What Is Alchemy?

Alchemy Community Therapy Center is a sliding-scale mental health clinic and training center in Oakland, CA (Ohlone land), specializing in equitable psychedelic-assisted therapy. We envision a world where everyone has access to liberating mental health care, especially those impacted by systemic injustice.

Alchemy offers a two-year, in-person associate therapist training program, a virtual ketamine-assisted therapy (KAT) training for providers, and a clinic that provides equitable access to KAT and talk therapy services to diverse clients in California.

Alchemy was founded in 2019 to confront the profound inequities in access to quality psychedelic-assisted therapy, which we prioritize throughout all aspects of our training and clinical services.

The Opportunity

In Fall 2024, Alchemy was invited by Vision Walkers Collective (VWC) a California nonprofit that supports transformational practices in somatic and psychedelic therapies – to collaborate on their new project: Root and Bloom Institute in Berkeley, CA (Miwok & Ohlone land).

Root and Bloom will offer 20,000 ft² of beautifully renovated space for therapy and training programs, with private offices and large group rooms designed to foster community and access.

Alchemy is excited to share we have signed a Letter of Intent to lease space at Root and Bloom as an anchor tenant in the building’s offices starting in 2026!

Why This Matters

With this space, Alchemy will:

  • Move into a newly renovated space built for clients’ needs based on direct input from Alchemy

  • Grow from five to seven private therapy offices (from 575 ft² of space to 947 ft²)

  • Utilize four spacious group rooms by launching new in-person offerings: KAT groups, therapy groups, workshops, trainings, and community events

  • Pilot revenue-generating programs to support long-term sustainability

This move will strengthen Alchemy’s ability to deliver on our mission: expanding access to equitable care while positioning the organization for long-term success.

Support Our Dream

This opportunity is only possible thanks to the tremendous support and heartfelt generosity from Vision Walkers Collective, which has offered Alchemy a substantial discount on office rent for the first three years of operations. These discounts will afford Alchemy the opportunity to grow into the new space, scaling revenue gains at a reasonable pace.

We project $100,000 in new revenue in our first year at Root and Bloom, with increasing gains in 2027 and beyond. These gains will support Alchemy’s long-term goal to reduce reliance on philanthropy. Achieving this, however, requires sustained philanthropic investment in the near term.

As we prepare to step into this next chapter, we have launched a $500,000 Capacity-Building Campaign to support our transition through the end of 2026. This investment will allow us to:

  • Successfully relocate and expand our clinical offices

  • Build and test new clinical and training programs

  • Cover key infrastructure and staffing needs

  • Maintain sliding-scale care as we grow

We invite you to support our dream by making a tax-deductible donation!
