Community Resources

This statement reflects many internal conversations we’ve had over the past few months, and captures to the best of our ability the major sentiments within our organization. While we acknowledge that one post cannot represent all of the nuanced and diverse perspectives of our staff, it feels important for us to make a public statement.

As a nonprofit clinic focused on providing liberatory mental health care, we believe every human being deserves dignity, respect, and safety. Alchemy stands with city of Oakland residents in demanding an immediate ceasefire, release of all hostages, and sovereignty for Palestinian people.

The Alchemy community has been holding and processing grief, rage, and collective trauma as over 22,000 Palestinian civilians and more than 1,100 Israelis have been unjustly and brutally killed since October 7th*. As therapists aiming to decolonize our work, we recognize people are not their governments and we continue to explore how we are all impacted by systems of oppression as we collectively and individually take action. We are deeply committed to a world free of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism. Alchemy envisions a future free from oppression, occupation, and war.

Alchemy continues to provide support to California residents seeking brief or longer term therapy during these times. We hold our community members who are affected by this conflict with compassion and offer a safe, non-judgemental space for processing these emotions. We’ll also continue to share mental health resources, including this growing list, to support anyone looking for additional community connections. Please note that an organization or offering shared on our site does not necessarily imply Alchemy’s endorsement. Instead, we hope the resources we share serve as a starting point for finding the support you need during these devastating times.
